Knives & Daggers

Belt Knife

This knife was created as a prize for a contest on Sword Buyers Guide, a site and forum dedicated to the collection of arms and armor.  The blade was forged from 1075 steel and given a mirror finish.  The guard and butt cap are mild steel with a satin finish, while the handle is maple.

Boot Dagger

This double-edged boot knife was built using a blade made by Windlass Steelcrafts.  The guard is a small rondel made from mild steel, and the handle is natural shed deer antler with the crown intact.

Bowie Camp Knife

This bowie knife was one of our fully custom commissions.  The blade is made of 1095 steel with a satin finish and features a sharpened clip point.  The guard is mild steel which has been cold-blued to accent the blade.  The handle is hickory and affixed by two steel pins.

Fighting Bowie Knife

This knife was made using a blade from 
Windlass Steelcrafts.  The guard was forged from mild steel and features long arms for excellent hand protection.  It was then given a mirror polish to match the blade.  The handle is made from a piece of American elk antler.

Fantasy Dagger Set

This is a matching set of two fantasy daggers commissioned by a customer.  Though fantasy pieces, the chopping dagger is loosely based on some Filipino designs, while the double-edged dagger is based upon antenna daggers from medieval Europe.

The larger dagger features a blade of 5160 while the smaller one is made from 1095, both with a satin finish.  The hilt fittings of each are mild steel also with a satin finish.  The poplar grips are wrapped in green leather strips.  The scabbards feature poplar cores wrapped in brown leather with black leather belt loops and chapes.

Scramasax

The scramaseax, or seax, was a knife used throughout Europe from the 7th to 11th centuries. This seax was entirely produced in the shop from scratch. The blade is 1095 high-carbon steel with a bright, nearly mirror polish. The fittings are mild steel with a satin polish, and the grip is made of birch with a burned finish. The sheath is made of vegetable-tanned leather with decorative knot work and a deep red color.
