Here are some examples of swords we have worked on in the past.  If you are interested in ordering a similar piece, please take a look at the Ordering page for more details regarding custom commissions.

Angus Trim Longsword

This piece was built utilizing a blade from maker Angus "Gus" Trim, of a style classified by Ewart Oakeshott as a type XIIa.  The guard is an Oakeshott style 6 that has been curved and includes an ecussion, or cusp.  The pommel is a variant of the "scent-stopper" style, which Oakeshott called a type T5.  The blade is made of 5160 steel and was given a mirror polish after we received it.  The hilt fittings are mild steel and were also given a mirror finish.

The scabbard and grip feature wooden cores made of poplar.  The grip is wrapped in soft, snow-white lambskin.  The scabbard, in a 14th century style, is wrapped in vegetable-tanned leather which has been tooled and dyed black.  Silver leaf has been applied to some of the tooling.  It also features two lockets, a chape, and strap plates made from tinned 20 gauge mild steel.  The suspension straps are made of white leather, and the buckles, hooks, and belt slider are tinned brass.

Oakeshott XII.2

This piece is inspired by sword XII.2 in Ewart Oakeshott's Records of the Medieval Sword.  Oakeshott describes this as a late Viking age design dating between 950 and 1000.
Our interpretation is based off of a Hanwei Tinker single hand blade (Early Medieval Single Hander).  The blade has been sharpened, as the factory edge was quite dull.  The fittings are mild steel with a satin finish.  The hilt is secured via a nut that has been rounded to resemble a peen block.

Both the scabbard and grip feature poplar wood cores wrapped in soft brown leather.   The scabbard also features a red oak strap bridge finished with boiled linseed oil.

The specifications are as follows:
Overall Length: 38 inches
Blade Length: 31.56 inches
Blade Width at Guard: 2.06 inches
Guard Width: 4 inches
Handle Length: 4.19 inches
Point of Balance: 6.5 inches from guard
Weight: 2.4 pounds

Oakeshott XVIIIa.2

This piece is inspired by sword XVIIIa.2 in Oakeshott's Records of the Medieval Sword. Oakeshott dates this design between 1400 and 1440.
My interpretation is based off of a Hanwei Tinker bastard sword blade. The blade has been sharpened from the dull factory edge. The curved guard and faceted scent-stopper pommel are mild steel and have a satin finish. The scabbard and handle are made of poplar and wrapped in soft blue leather. The hilt is secured via a recessed nut in the pommel.

Blade Length: 33.38 inches
Blade Width at Guard: 1.56 inches
Guard Width: 8.38 inches
